About Me

I am married and have a five-year old son. My family and I live in Iowa City with our two dogs. We also have a 70-gallon marine aquarium and a 45-gallon freshwater aquarium, and flower beds planted to attract hummingbirds and butterflies. I grew up in western New York State and moved to Iowa in 1991 to attend the University of Iowa as a graduate student. I have a full-time job at the University of Iowa Libraries in the Serials Section. I have recently graduated from the University of Iowa School of Library and Information Science with my Master of Arts. I have also been pursuing coursework on the handmaking of books.

When I’m not at work, I enjoy playing with my son, spending time with my husband, gardening, biking, and doing embroidery. In 2001, I joined a local biking club, Bicyclists of Iowa City, Inc. (BIC), and have been trying to bike more regularly.

I am a member of the Plum Grove Chapter of the Embroiderers' Guild of America and am currently serving a two-year term as President. I entered a piece of embroidery in the 1997 Iowa State Fair, for which I received Best of Show honors in the Counted Thread Division. I put a scan of the "Golden Age Sampler" on a separate page. You may also view it and other works I have made in recent years by clicking on the thumbnail images below.
